Hastings spent his high school years moonlighting as a fishing and hunting guide. Shortly into his first tour in Vietnam, he gained a reputation as a respected scout and recon patroller. Local villagers took to him, respecting his no-nonsense demeanor and quick uptake on local dialects. After the war, he brought his variety of skills to Army Intelligence. He attended a special “Desert Scout” training program where he excelled in exercises, and stayed on as an instructor until he was selected for Longbow. An expert in survival, recon, and intelligence, he is cool under pressure and always has a backup plan.
